Body Balance is a label for several light touch techniques. Bio-Mechanics, N.E.A.T, and Emotional Healing Technique are a few I work with. The Bio-Mechanics Technique will be discussed here.
Bio-Mechanics Technique
The Bio-Mechanics Technique was developed by John Hurley and Helen Sanders. They were both chiropractic college grads and John specialized mechanical and structural engineering. The application of mechanics, along with his knowledge of the human skeletal system, birthed a technique designed to normalize body structure and polarity.
Based upon the correlation between stress, body balance and the high incidences of sickness, Light Touch Treatments address this correlation by developing a procedure which analyses the body’s distortion. It then applies a light touch technique in order to relax and depolarize the muscles, without soft tissue manipulation, thus permitting a normalization of the whole body’s structure with a view in mind of reversing the high incidences of sickness and disease.
Stressors: The causative factors of distortion. How many can you identify with?
- Trauma for surgical procedures
- Infectious processes that attack the body
- Trauma from accidents
- Immunological reactions from inoculations and shots
- Allergies to food, chemicals, air pollution, etc.
- Over exertion, working too many jobs, working too hard
- Strong emotions such as loss of loved ones, loss of work, divorce, income tax audits, etc.
- Malnutrition, poor diet, lack of proper nutrients, inability to assimilate proper nutrients, etc.
- Prolonged exposure to heat, sun, or cold
- Pregnancy
- The continual influence of the earth’s gravitational pull on one’s body
- Electro-magnetic field (EMF) bombardment
When stressors stay long enough, the body’s ability to handle them becomes compromised. Think of a giant rock on the trampoline. It can hold it, but the longer it stays, the more stretched the fibers become, until it breaks through.
Examples of the devastating effects of distortion caused by stressors:
- Compression of the thoracic cavity can lead to conditions of the lungs, heart, and diaphragm
- Flexion (forward) of the neck can lead to allergies, headaches, sinuses, tonsillitis, and asthma
- Visceroptosis (sagging of the visceral organs) can lead to diabetes, colitis, ulcers, and gal bladder disease
- Pelvic rotations can lead to conditions of the female organs, prostate, low back and lower extremities
- Chronic muscle spasms can cause problems with the endocrine glands, lymphatic, and lead to blood disorders
The main corrections accomplished in the Bio-Mechanics Technique are:
- Micro-movement of the sacrum either forward or backward
- Drift to the left or right of a plumb line that is supposed to dissect the body into two equal halves
- Pelvis rotation on axis, that is one gluteal cheek may be more forward while the other cheek is back
Training in the Bio-Mechanics Technique will show how a single thumb contact can make changes in all three of these pelvic distortive patterns by applying a light touch.
